iPhone Duplicates Album Missing? Here’s Why
The Duplicates album appears only after Photos has indexed the library and found matching items.

Leave your iPhone locked and connected to power so Photos can finish indexing the library. The Duplicates album will not appear if the scan is unfinished or if Photos has not found any duplicates.
Let Photos finish scanning
Duplicate detection runs in the background. Apple says the iPhone needs to be locked and connected to power while Photos indexes the library and searches for matches.
- Connect the iPhone to power.
- Make sure it has time on Wi-Fi.
- Lock the screen and leave it overnight.
- Check Photos again the next day.
Check the right place
Open Photos, tap Collections, then scroll to Utilities. If Photos found duplicates, the Duplicates collection appears there.
If the album still is not there
The iPhone may still be indexing, or it may not have found exact duplicates. Repeated poses, blurry attempts, screenshots, and similar-looking photos are not always exact duplicates, so they may still need a visual review.
