Roku Keeps Buffering? How to Fix It
Check the connection, restart the right devices, and improve the signal before changing your internet plan.

Restart the Roku and router, then open Settings > Network > About and run Check connection. Move the router or Roku into a clearer position, pause large downloads, and try 5 GHz or Ethernet when supported.
Check the Roku connection
Roku reports both internet download speed and Wi-Fi signal quality. A fast plan cannot fix a weak signal reaching the TV.
- Restart the Roku and your router.
- Open Settings > Network > About.
- Run Check connection.
- Compare signal quality and download speed.
- Test the same video again.
Improve the signal
Reduce walls and metal objects between the router and Roku. If both devices support it, try the 5 GHz network nearby or a wired connection.

Why does Roku buffer when my phone is fast?
The TV may be farther from the router, behind more obstacles, or connected to a different Wi-Fi band.
Should I buy faster internet?
Check the Roku’s own connection first. Poor Wi-Fi placement can cause buffering even on a fast plan.
