Quick answer

Use the same Wi-Fi, enable Local Network access, turn off your VPN, and restart the app.

1. Match the Wi-Fi network

The iPhone and Roku must use the same network name. Avoid guest Wi-Fi, which often keeps devices apart.

2. Allow Local Network access

Reopen the app and check the device list.

  1. Open iPhone Settings.
  2. Tap Privacy & Security.
  3. Tap Local Network.
  4. Turn access on for the remote app.

3. Turn off VPN

A VPN can hide local devices. Disconnect it, reopen the remote app, and try again.

4. Check Roku mobile control

On Roku, open Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Control by mobile apps. Choose Enabled.

Common questions

Why does the Roku appear on one phone but not another?

Check Local Network permission and Wi-Fi on the phone that cannot see it.

Does 2.4GHz versus 5GHz matter?

It can when the router separates the bands. Connect both devices to the same network name and band.
